Meet Siyi
Hello! Kia Ora.
In Short:
I love crafting moving images and building worlds—with a passion for creativity and a knack for making ideas come to life. If you’re all about bringing visions to reality, we’re already on the same wavelength!
About me:
Like many in the creative industry, I was captivated by the power of storytelling—the kind that pulls you in. This fascination led me from Research and Engineering into a self-taught journey of Design and Motion, starting with volunteer work and growing into paid projects in UI/UX, animations, and event videos.
TV production became my next chapter, where I picked up post-production graphics and VFX skills on the job. But my passion for innovation kept me reaching for new challenges. Each project was a new opportunity to learn, grow, and innovate—and I couldn’t resist that itch to find fresh, inventive ways to do things.
In 2019, my passion led me to the exciting field of Virtual Production. With a mix of production experience, technical skills, and sheer determination, I began building in uncharted territory, navigating the scarce documentation and resources to create over 100 real-time virtual sets and 60 DMX-driven virtual light shows for three major TV productions. Along the way, I became an Unreal Engine Artist, crafting real-time environments and Creative Technologist, programming and optimising workflows, to bring ambitious visions to life.
Today, with one foot in the film and TV industry and the other in academia, I collaborate with industry leaders and researchers to create groundbreaking virtual film sets for ICVFX. It’s been a journey shaped by a love for innovation and storytelling—one I’m proud to share.
I’m not specialised in one field, but I’m dedicated to turn vision a reality—with a love for storytelling at the heart of it all!
